240 Strut Brace

Introducing our brand new line of strut braces!

This model will fit just about all Volvo 240's out there, including flathoods (my 242 has a flathood).  The only engine parts that this straight bar will not clear are the B21/23 long neck valve cover and the B21F non-turbo plenum style intake manifold, both of which are pictured here.  I have a bent bar design to get around these issues, so if you have these parts on your car and still want a strut brace, please let me know!

"A strut brace is used to reduce chassis flex and increase stability in corners.  It connects the top of your two strut towers with a bar that keeps them from flexing in towards each other.  Steering response is also improved because the car will twist a lot less before actually turning.  The improvement is most noticeable during long sweeping corners, like a freeway on-ramp.  Your vehicle will seem so much more stable and planted to the ground instead of squirming all over the road."

- John

The plates are waterjet cut out of 3/16" 3003 aluminum, then I bend the brackets and weld it all together.  The bars are 1" 6061 aluminum tube, .125" wall thickness (nice and beefy).  In the center is a jack screw which is threaded right hand on one side and left hand on the other, and I'm including a pair of thin stainless steel nuts with every set.  This allows you install the bar onto your vehicle then extend the jack screw to take up any slack, and even pre-tension the chassis a little bit.  All the included hardware is stainless steel (except the jack screw) for corrosion resistance and beauty.  That hardware includes two SS bolts, four washers and two locknuts for attaching the bar to the plates, as well as 6 SS nuts and washers for attaching the plates to the top of each strut tower.   Absolutely everything needed for installation is included (except tools of course).

I have 5 color options available for you, listed below.  I don't send these out to get powdercoated, I do it here at the shop myself.  That way I can pass the savings on to you, and supply you with a lot of different colors to choose from.  You are welcome to mix and match colors too, red and chrome look great together, or black plates with a chrome bar, just let me know.

****NOTE!****  No longer in production.

I've put together a few flash images so you can see all the colors installed on some different vehicles.  I know it's tough to choose the perfect color bar for your car, I spent a long time swapping them all back and forth on my car before I finally decided to keep the chrome one.  Hopefully this will help make your decision a little easier.  Once you've opened the image, roll over the color choices to swap them.  Note, I've discontinued the graphite color and it has been replaced by white.

The direction of my business is changing and I will be ceasing production on nearly all of my products for the next few months.  I need to concentrate on family, R&D and producing my big blow off valves!  Fun fun fun.

Ohh and my 4 axis CNC mill is up and running :-)

Opening most of the store back up again.  Very busy catching up on old orders of shifters and BIG strut braces.  Also in my spare time I'm working on converting my milling machine to CNC, very cool!  See the blog for info.

We just got a CNC lathe, so production will be much faster!  Also keep your eyes peeled for new and interesting products on the way...
